Case studies: what we did and what changed

Every project starts from a real business problem: a site that doesn't convert, users who don't come back, a redesign that feels risky to launch. What we deliver isn't just research — it's evidence for better decisions.

Digital Services · Chile

Oficina Virtual: changing the entire site without losing what they'd built

They needed to migrate their site to a completely new backend. The fear: losing Google rankings and sales dropping during the switch.

We integrated UX research and SEO from day one — before launch, not after. We evaluated the design proposal, worked on content architecture, and validated with real users. One week after launch, numbers dipped slightly. Two months later, everything was green.

Logistics · International

Mudango: identifying experience breakdowns across three countries at once

Mudango operates in Chile, Colombia and Mexico. They needed to understand why certain users weren't completing the digital process — and whether the problem was the same across all three markets.

We designed mixed-methods research with 93 surveyed customers and in-depth interviews per country. Findings revealed the breakdowns weren't about design — they were about expectations. That shifted the focus of improvements.

I had the privilege of working with Paulina at Mudango in 2024. Her role as UX Researcher was key: she led customer interviews, mapped user journeys and analyzed needs with rigor and clarity. Her deliverable was impeccable and strategic for identifying our key customers.

Automotive · B2B

B2B Discovery: from 15 ideas to 5 features dealers actually needed

An automotive technology startup had to decide what to build first for their Car Dealer platform. They had internal hypotheses but no direct user evidence.

We designed a Discovery process with mixed interviews (generative + evaluative) and structured prioritization. From 7 user pain points and 15 solution ideas, we arrived at 5 core MVP features — validated by the dealers themselves.

Real Estate · Chile

Malpo: more leads with a site users actually understand

Malpo's site attracted visits but didn't convert them. Over 65% of traffic came from mobile to an experience that wasn't designed for them.

We researched real user behavior, redesigned the information architecture, and simplified contact flows. The result: a mobile-first experience that builds trust and reduces friction all the way to the form.

Paulina provided comprehensive guidance throughout the entire process, from deep analysis of our current situation to concrete improvement proposals. What we especially appreciated was that she considered both business objectives and actual user experience. Her follow-up was essential for validating and refining details before implementation. Working with UXR was definitely a great contribution to our company.

Previous experienceRetail · LATAM

Experience prior to UXR: Paulina Contreras's in-house work as Senior UX Researcher at Sodimac, not a consulting engagement.

Sodimac: aligning a large team around who their users really are

When different areas of an organization have different views of the customer, initiatives fragment. Sodimac needed a common foundation to prioritize.

We developed corporate User Personas from regional research across Latin America. The deliverable wasn't just a document — it was the starting point for aligning product and marketing decisions.

Previous experienceStartup · International SEO

Experience prior to UXR: Mauricio Antúnez's in-house work creating the SEO area at Cornershop by Uber, not a consulting engagement.

Cornershop: scaling from 0 to 40% organic traffic in an international market

One of Latin America's fastest-growing startups needed their SEO to grow at the same pace as their operations — across multiple countries and millions of pages.

We designed and implemented a technical and international SEO strategy with content architecture at scale. Organic traffic went from near zero to 40% of total traffic.

Frequently asked questions

What kinds of projects are in these case studies?

Six projects across different sectors: a real estate developer (Malpo), international logistics across three countries (Mudango), digital services (Oficina Virtual), an automotive B2B platform (B2B Discovery), regional retail (Sodimac) and a delivery startup (Cornershop). The problems range from "the site doesn't convert" to "we have to migrate without losing rankings" and "we don't know what to build first".

Why do some cases show figures and others don't?

Because not every project had measurement afterwards. Where the client had the instrumentation and the access to measure, the figure is there: 4.41 satisfaction at Mudango, 40% organic traffic at Cornershop, two months to recover every key metric at Oficina Virtual. Where the project ended at the research handover, the result is qualitative and shown as such, not dressed up as a metric.

What does "Previous experience" mean on some cases?

That the work predates UXR and was done in-house, as employees inside the company, not as outside consulting. There are two: Sodimac's corporate User Personas, which Paulina Contreras developed as an in-house Senior UX Researcher, and the SEO area at Cornershop by Uber, which Mauricio Antúnez built from the inside. They are labelled so it is clear which role each piece of work was done in.

How long does a project take?

It depends on scope, not on company size. The B2B Discovery took six weeks from stakeholder interviews to a prioritised backlog. At Oficina Virtual, two months passed between launch and the recovery of every key metric. A bounded research project is measured in weeks; ongoing support has no end date by definition.

Do you only work with large companies?

No. What defines a project isn't how big you are, but how clear your goal is. This page holds both a regional retailer and a startup that began with almost no organic search presence. If your goal isn't clear yet, that's exactly what the first call is for.

What happens after the research is delivered?

It varies. At Malpo there was follow-up to validate and refine details before implementation. At Oficina Virtual a one-off project became ongoing support, with a dashboard the team reviews on their own. In other cases the deliverable closes the work and the internal team implements.

Most projects that come to UXR don't fit into a box. Tell us what's happening — if we can help, we'll tell you on the first call. If not, we'll tell you that too.
